The precise regulation of gene expression is necessary for organismal development, and changes in gene expression regulation underlie many evolutionary adaptations. Defective transcriptional regulation can lead to developmental disorders and disease. Through the combination of novel new technologies, genetics, evolutionary biology, biochemistry, and molecular, cell, and computational biology, many layers of transcriptional regulation have been uncovered and dissected. This meeting will address several of these areas, including basic transcriptional control, enhancer structure and function, chromatin packaging, epigenetics, and phase separation.

The Plant and Animal Genome XXVIII Conference (PAG) will take place January 11-15, 2020. It is designed to provide a forum on recent developments and future plans for plant and animal genome projects.
Consisting of technical presentations, poster sessions, exhibits and workshops, the conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and applications on this internationally important project.
This year, Advances in Genome Biology and Technology (AGBT) will celebrate 20 years as the preeminent genome science and technology conference where top global researchers, leaders and innovators meet to announce new discoveries, cutting edge breakthroughs and to collaborate. As a recognized cornerstone for the genomics research community, AGBT provides an outstanding forum for exchanging information about the latest advances in DNA sequencing technologies, experimental and analytical approaches for genomic studies, and their myriad applications.
The DNA of eukaryotic cells is organized into chromatin fibres, where the nucleosome is the basic repeating unit. Chromatin is thus at the core of fundamental processes such as gene regulation, stem cell fate determination and cancer. By and large, these topics have traditionally been covered by separated meetings. However, recent literature indicates that the boundaries among these various disciplines are becoming less clear. This meeting on "Epigenetics: from mechanisms to disease" will bring together scientists studying chromatin architecture, epigenetics, stem cell biology and cancer. The talks will cover a broad range of topics, including chromosome organisation, long-range interactions, chromatin assembly, stem cell regulation/differentiation, RNA-based mechanisms, transcription regulation, DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation.
Speakers have been selected to broadly reflect lessons learned from a variety of model organisms and experimental approaches, including single-cell omics and imaging, chromatin and 3D genome analysis. Young scientists will be able to present their work through a large number of short talks selected from submitted abstracts as well as through poster presentation. The program has also allocated ample time for exchanging ideas and discussing novel hypotheses at the end of each session, as well as time for informal interactions and networking.
