About the Webinar
Explore how the innovative CiFi method is advancing chromatin conformation capture, enabling detailed analysis of complex and repetitive genomic regions—even from low-input or challenging samples. This approach expands access to advanced 3D genomics by providing a robust workflow that overcomes limitations associated with sample size and complexity, allowing researchers to gain deeper insights into chromatin architecture across the genome.
What You Will Learn
CiFi Methodology: How CiFi leverages highly accurate long-read sequencing to map chromatin interactions across the entire genome, including in repetitive and low-complexity areas.
Low-input Capability: The unique advantages of CiFi’s low DNA input requirements, which make chromatin architecture studies possible using rare, small, or precious samples.
Performance and Validation: CiFi shows strong concordance with established 3C techniques (such as Hi-C and Pore-C) in capturing contact signals and identifying topologically associating domains (TADs).
Analysis in Complex Regions: CiFi’s ability to recover chromatin contacts in duplicated and highly repetitive genomic regions, surpassing what is possible with traditional short-read methods.
Applications: Discover how the workflow supports robust 3D genomics—from studies in developmental biology to disease research—by enabling comprehensive chromatin architecture analysis, regardless of sample complexity or availability.

Sean McGinty
PhD Candidate, UC Davis Genome CenterSean McGinty is a PhD candidate in the Integrative Genetics and Genomics (IGG) graduate group, affiliated with the UC Davis Genome Center and a part of Dr. Megan Dennis’ lab. He researches the genetics and genomics of what makes us uniquely human with an emphasis on studying the role that structural variants play in gene regulation. Using long-read sequencing data and computational methods, his research seeks to understand how this understudied source of variation contributes to traits and diseases across primates.
